"Recycling is not a trend or a need of other times: today is a necessity"

The exhibition market within the project INNOMED UP (ENI CBC Med Programme) took place at Emporio Caritas, one of the members of the cluster in Prato. Caritas volunteers re-worked the materials recovered from the first collection of the 10 Smart Tools, positioned around the city and created new creative objects. The fabrics, clothes, accessories and scraps have thus taken on a new form, a new use and a new life. Caritas, which has been pursuing the values of upcycling and recycling for years, has collaborated with the Municipality of Prato, designing an exhibition-market that highlights the countless possibilities for reusing objects considered waste to raise awareness among citizens on circular issues. The event also involved the students from ITS Tullio Buzzi, who, together with the 2 professors who followed them during the process of building the Smart Bins, showed how the Bins work and their electronic components. Prato, a circular city, continues the collection of materials with the Smart Bins, carrying forward good practices that enhance it in the area and reinterpret the circular tradition of the textile district in a modern and innovative way.

Circular Wool Lab, Lottozero presents its INNOMED UP voucher's project

Prato, Lottozero Textile Laboratories launches Circular Wool Lab, a laboratory for the recovery of raw wool from waste, created through the purchase of specific processing equipment, made possible thanks to the funding of the INNOMED UP project vouchers, part of the ENI CBC MED Programme, of which the Municipality of Prato is a partner. Lottozero, at its space, provides the machinery for artists and craftsmen who wish to create projects that relate art and the themes of recovery and circularity, especially in the textile sector.Guns for tafting, carding machine and spinning machine are some of the equipment present at the Lottozero Laboratory. The difficulty of finding these machines for use on a small scale and not for industrial production gave rise to the idea in the team, from which the winning project was born. “Our vision for this project is to give new life to a wasted raw material; we are transforming Tuscan rustic wool, coming from meat or dairy sheep, which is not considered interesting in the textile industry into a material for industrial and commercially desirable products, adding value through high impact design, creativity and high quality automated processes" This project has allowed Lottozero to intensify research and innovation projects on rustic wool material and to improve the experimentation offer aimed at the young creatives of the area.       SPINNING MACHINE                                     TAFTING GUNS                   CARDING MACHINE

The MOEBEUS Team from Prato launches its Innovative Pilot

The Moeabeus company has developed an innovative product within the INNOMED UP project which provides an analysis of the sustainable and circular strategies of companies, to implement new measures where it is necessary to improve results. Thanks to the creation of a Web app, the company that registers on the platform, by completing a questionnaire, will be able to find out which aspects to work on to make its production more sustainable, circular and efficient and have the possibility of obtaining a Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certification. The areas examined during the compilation of the questionnaire and the Circularity Assessment are 5 and are based on the indicators that are evaluated to grant the C2C certification: Material Health Requirements Product Circularity Requirements Clear Air & Climate Protection Requirements Water & Soil Stepwardship Requirements Social Fairness Requirements The innovation introduced is based on the combined use of digital technologies and mathematical algorithms in capable of both simplifying the information gathering process and increasing the reliability of the results obtained through automatic data analysis.  The innovative service developed through the voucher will complement those already provided by the startup ("Be-Circular" SDG sustainability consultancy, "GRI-AI" artificial intelligence tool based on GRI indicators, "Blockchain" notarization and traceability service of the supply chain) with a view to enhancing the quality of the consultancy offer for its customers by allowing the construction and provision of a new package ("Circularity Dimension") within the general offer.

"Poltrone Rifà"- The new INNOMED UP sub-grant project in Prato

In the "Scrap Bank" of Recuperiamoci, many interesting materials are stored for their creative reuse. Thanks to the INNOMED UP project, the Recuperiamoci association was able to purchase suitable machinery for the processing of inner tubes, bicycles, tyres, leather and other fabrics that would otherwise be difficult to work with. The PoltroneRifà project has led to the creation of new "coverings" composed of tyres, inner tubes, truck covers, leather scraps and old bags through the use of a triple transport sewing machine and a specific compressor. The first textures are already ready. The goal of Recuperiamoci for the future is to provide training for those who want to intervene directly on their objects to repair them. The citizens can admire the recovery works of the Recuperiamoci Association at the headquarters in Via di Cantagallo, 33 in Prato.

Birzeit University | جامعة بيرزيت, in Palestine has selected the cities of Nablus and Hebron as the INNOMED-UP project pilot areas because of their unique historical importance, heritage and the concentration of the CCIs in these old cities .   Hebron is an ancient historical city of 6000 years’ heritage; the population of the city is 215,000 Palestinians. Its Old City of stone roofs, archways and never-ending alleyways is the perfect playground for the sensory delight of the markets and bazaars that had been named after crafts they were famous of, for instance: Kazazin (Glass craftsmen) neighborhood, the Hadadeen (blacksmith) market, and so on. The city has won the “international artisan city for the year 2016” certificate by the International Crafts Council due to its distinguished long history making the original Palestinian heritage and traditional crafts.   Nablus has a population of 170,000 people. It’s considered the second largest commercial and cultural center in Palestine after Hebron. Nablus’ rich history lies in its Old City with its distinct stone facades, beautiful architecture, narrow streets and old urban spaces.   The population of the old city today is around 20,000. There are two churches, twelve mosques, and a Samaritan synagogue in and around the densely populated residential areas.
